Sarah's background is in higher mathematics and writing, and she has over a decade of experience tutoring math, writing, and SAT/ACT prep. She also tutors advanced mathematical students looking to train for competitions like AMC12, the AIME, and beyond. She firmly believes that all students can be successful in math given the right tools. Not only does she provide students with clear, intuitive explanations that facilitate deep learning rather than superficial memorization, but she also helps students let go of their own limiting beliefs around math and tap into their mathematical curiosity. As an English tutor, Sarah works with students for whom writing is an anxiety-ridden, frustrating ordeal as well as with those for whom writing is a particular strength. She focuses especially on helping students leave behind counter-productive writing habits in order to build up a writing process that is effective, reliable, and even pleasant. She also teaches a series of advanced writing techniques for literary analysis, idea generation, and editing that help prepare students for college-level writing and beyond.
